On July 14, 2025, Elena Wagyu had the honor of welcoming Prof. Abdurazak Mirzaev — Vice President of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and Chairman of the Navoi branch of the academy. The visit was part of a regional tour focused on promoting labor migration and exchanging innovative agricultural technologies.
During his visit, Prof. Mirzaev explored our farm in the Elena Balkan, where we raise the world’s most expensive cattle breed — Wagyu. The farm’s owner, Dr. Marin Marinov, shared insights into the challenges and opportunities of developing Wagyu production in Bulgaria, as well as the role of international workers in supporting farm operations.
Currently, the farm employs one worker from Uzbekistan, whom we are extremely happy with. However, Dr. Marinov highlighted the difficulties posed by short-term visa regulations and the need for more sustainable, long-term workforce solutions. The idea of hiring entire families was discussed as a way to ensure more stable and lasting support.
Prof. Mirzaev expressed Uzbekistan’s readiness to support Bulgaria not only with qualified young workers but also with innovative agricultural solutions, including technologies to protect crops from drought.
