From April 5th to 15th, 2025, Elena Wagyu had the honor of taking part in one of the most prestigious events in the Wagyu world – WagyuEdge 25, the annual conference organized by the Australian Wagyu Association, held in Perth, Western Australia. Bulgaria was proudly represented by Dr. Marin Marinov, founder and owner of Elena Wagyu, and Zootechnical Engineer Denitsa Dragomirova, breeding specialist at the farm.

The conference brought together leading producers, breeders and experts from around the world. Elena Wagyu’s participation allowed for valuable international networking, experience sharing and an in-depth introduction to the latest trends in the Wagyu industry. In one of the presentations dedicated to the global expansion of the Wagyu industry, Bulgaria was mentioned as part of the emerging regions in the sector – alongside Scandinavia, Poland, Romania and the Baltic States. This mention is a first step towards establishing our country as a potential player on the global Wagyu map.

During their visit to Australia, the Elena Wagyu team had the opportunity to connect and exchange expertise with several of the industry’s leading farms and producers, including:

In addition to building relationships with Australian producers, the team also forged valuable European connections. Productive discussions were held with the Chairman of Wagyu Genetics Germany and the owner of Putz Wagyu Beef – key figures in breeding and genetics across Europe. These new relationships lay the foundation for future partnerships, genetic exchange, and collaborative projects.

Elena Wagyu’s participation in WagyuEdge 25 marks a pivotal milestone in the farm’s ongoing journey to develop according to international standards and to establish Bulgaria as a reliable and competitive player in the production of premium Wagyu beef. The meetings, knowledge, and inspiration gained from Australia are just the beginning of a long-term journey toward a global Wagyu future — with a Bulgarian signature.
